He had only wanted wanted to see what she was doing. She seemed to be shining her Pokeballs or something, and he had been wanting to ask if she needed any help, however her Chikarita seemed to think otherwise. It had shouted at him after he picked up the Pokeball, and the girl didn't seem too happy, either. Frightened, the ghost type Pokemon was quick to fumble away from the duo, dodging an attack that could really never hurt him in the first place. He didn't like people and Pokemon going at him like that. They hadn't even gotten a chance to explain himself! That wasn't even fair! He was lucky his trainer was nearby...
"Dusk!" Max had tried calling again, cupping his hands over his mouth as he got deeper into the grass. The boy grumbled, not too happy with his ghost type. Seemed he could get into trouble whenever and wherever, really. "I swear, next time he's staying at home," Max grumbled as he placed his hands under his armpits to keep them warm.
Ninetails, who was having to jog to keep up with her trainer's long stride, looked to the boy, and it seemed like she was about to say something, however was interrupted by some shouting. The duo stopped and turned, to see a rather familiar shape coming towards them, as well as a girl and her Pokemon. Max was about to scorn his Pokemon, when he heard the girl shout.
"Stop that Chikorita!"
Max's mouth stayed a gape for a moment, before he looked and nodded towards his Ninetails. The fire type instantly dashed forward, past Dusk as he floated hurriedly to his trainer, and to the grass type. She stopped in the smaller Pokemon's path, blocking it and lowering her head with a growl. She raised her trails as well, trying to intimidate the little creature to at least stop long enough for her trainer to come and snatch her. Meanwhile, Dusk slowed to a stop in front of his trainer, panting and look scared as Max glared at him.
"Dusk! Where have you been?" Max demanded rather than asked of his Pokemon. "And why is that girl and her Pokemon following you? What did you do?"
Rather than speaking, the ghost type sadly showed his trainer the Pokeball he was still holding tightly; the Soothe Bell on his wrist jingling in the silence of winter. Max could only stare at it for a moment, before again glaring at his Pokemon and then taking the Pokeball from his hand.
"We'll talk later," he grumbled as he walked around his Pokemon and towards where Ninetails was blocking the Chikatria. "Now follow me," he ordered, and the Pokemon obliged quickly. Max was able to meet the girl where their Pokemon were, and, with a huff, he gestured the Pokeball to her and asked, "I believe this is yours?" He chuckled before adding, "Sorry for my Pokemon. He can be rather.... emotional and strange, sometimes."
"Noir...," <"Sorry...,>" the Pokemon said sadly in response, bowing it's head in obvious shame and sadness.

Elexi Toya I walked through the grassy field. The dark green tall grass brushed across my hips and I laughed as it felt funny. My Chikorita sat a top my head looking over everything and warding off Spearow, which I was glad of. Spearow are not cute and they are very mean.
"Chika! Chikorita!" Chikorita let out a loud squeal and kneaded my head with it's feet. I looked up and saw a joyful clumsy Pidgey floating down towards me. I patted Chikorita on the head and it relaxed a small amount. I stuck my arm out and the Pidgey flew around and landed on it. I stroked the feathers on it's head and it gave a happy chirp.
"Pidgey!" I sat the Pidgey on the ground and took Chikorita off my head. I set the two pokemon across from each other. Chikorita gave a few explaining "chika's" and the Pidgey flew away
I only catch grass type pokemon. Chikorita jumped up and bowled me over with a happy squeal. I stroked it's head leaf.
"Chika? Chikorita?" I looked at Chikorita and gazed around. Wait! There was a Dusknoir right above me! I pulled out my pokedex and scanned it.
"....Dusknoir is ghost-type....." All I listened to was that it was a ghost-type. Freaky... I stared at it a moment as it swooped down to grab one of the pokeballs I had removed my bag to shine. Wait it going off with it! I didn't do anything though considering I could just buy another one at a pokemart.
"Chika, Chikorita! Chika, Chika!" Chikorita started the jump up to use a tackled attack, but the Dusknoir was leaving. Chikorita was not giving up. It started following the running away ghost pokemon away. My pokemon started chasing after it.
"Stop it!" I had to chase after them. I tripped once or twice, but I was following the pokemon onto a path where I saw a boy.
"Stop that Chikorita!"

Elexi Toya [I gasped as I saw the Ninetails. The pokemon was gorgeous, but it also was a fire type pokemon. Chikarita cringed when it looked up at the menacing position. I froze. Knowing Chikarita's nature would it try to battle? Hehe, no. Chikarita knew it's on weakness and ran back to me. It scooted behing my legs to hide from the partly fire type pokemon. I wanted to hide behing my legs two.
"T-thanks. i-it was n-no trouble...Chikarita really doesn't like having other pokemon around which have to fix. Dusknoir was probably just trying to play..." I murmured as I scooted away from the ninetails. I took the pokeball from the boy's hand. I sat down and pushed away my oddly dyed hair. I hadn't had time to put it up this morning. I opened my messenger back and placed the pokeball back in the correct space.
"Eh, my name is Elexi." I was far enough from the Ninetails that I didn't have to be nervous. I took my jacket off and tied it around my waist. Despite winter I was were a v-neck short sleeve white shirt and a jean skirt. My legs had thin, but long black socks and I wore tennis shoes. I might be considered crazy, but I just didn't care.
"For curiosity's sake, how many fire types do you have with you?" Chikarita and I looked quite nervous at my asking.

Afraid of fire types? Max had never heard of anyone being afraid of fire types. Then again, he wasn't the one to talk; he'd been afraid of Pokemon at one point in his life, and maybe if it weren't for Ninetails, he still would be today. Most fire types were rather menacing, too, like Magmortar or Charizard. Not that he was afraid of such Pokemon, but still. Not that he would say anything aloud, of course.
"Anyways, I'm headed down to Violet City. You want to come with me? Despite your Fire types, I think they won't hurt me as long as don't hurt them."
"Oh, yeah, no worries," Max chuckled."I'm sure Ninetails won't hurt you. Right, Ninetails?"
"Nine Ninetails!" the fox like Pokemon growled, nodding.
At the sound of going somewhere other than this route, Dusk seemed to perk up instantly. "Dusknoir?" the large Pokemon seemed to plead, looking to his trainer with a sad eye.
"Hm, well I guess it would be alright," Max said, earning a cheer from the ghost type. "Besides," he said, "I'm sure you'll need more than just your Chikarita of Falkner is still the gym leader in Violet City. He has all flying types, and Chikarita and other grass types are rather weak against them."

Elexi Toya I listened as he spoke his name. Max. Hmm, interesting name. I looked at him as he was speaking of something like having a pokemon like mine. Ah, he must mean a starter pokemon, but I gulped as soon as he started saying he had three fire types. I froze like I was hit with an ice beam. Chikarita climbed up my legs, to my shoulder, and finally on my head. It was trying to get away from the Ninetails.
"Sad truth is that I'm afraid of Fire pokemon just like Stunner here. I feel the same fear of being burned to death as a grass type pokemon. I really try to stay away from fire type pokemon friendly or not. Any pokemon can turn like a leaf in the wind." I scratched Stunner right below the seeds on it's neck. It snuggled into my hair and closed it eyes. It had obviously forgotten the fire type in front of it.
"Anyways, I'm headed down to Violet City. You want to come with me? Despite your Fire types, I think they won't hurt me as long as don't hurt them." I looked down at Ninetails who seemed relaxed and happy with Max. I smiled at the happy pokemon. Although Dusknoir didn't seem very enthusiastic about Max's promising of a talk with it. "Maybe you could also help me catch pokemon considering I'm pretty bad at timing. You seem to have many pokemon."

As the duo spoke, a few bushes nearby began to rustle and move, something obviously behind them. After a moment, a small Pokemon poked it's head through, obviously curious as to where the voices were coming from. It stepped lightly and silently out of the bushes, trying to be as quiet as out of sight as possible as it watched the talking humans and the Pokemon with them with curiosity and a small hint of fright. It was obviously not used to such creatures being around, nor did it seem to know exactly what to do.
A WILD DEERLING APPEARED!Deerling | Female | Level 6 | Sap Sipper Tackle | Camouflage | Growl
The small Deerling stayed near the bushes and tall grass, obviously not wanting to get too close to the two humans; Deerling were known to be quite timid of humans, after all, and this one was no different, staying as far away as she could without getting too far away to hear or see what they were doing. They seemed alright, however she did not want to take any chances, in case they decided to try and pull some sort of trick on her.

Elexi Toya "I know, but I don't regret my decision of choosing Stunner. He's my partner no matter how weak he is against a certain type. I patted Stunner on the head as I said this. Thanks for coming with me though, the knowledge I can learn will be good for me and Stunner. Also, even with having a pokemon around gets lonely, ya know, being without anyone you can have a real conversation with." I started tying up my hair in it's usual style.
"Besides, Stunner and I can try to not fear pokemon with spending some time with them." I point with a free hand at Ninetails. I finished with my hair, but looked at a bush as it rustled. A weird pokemon was popping it's head out. I pulled out my pink pokedex.
"Deerling, Deer pokemon. Their appearance changes according to the season. Shy of humans!" I smiled at it's cute face. I picked up my Chikarita and looked at it.
"Think you can talk to it and see if it'll meet me? Be nice though! Chikarita gave a squeal and jumped away. With a flick of the leaf on it's head.
"Chika, Chika!" <Hi!> It slowly walked over to the Deerling.

"That's true," Max laughed. "Though I like my Pokemon, human to human interaction is a whole lot better sometimes."
"Dusk," said the large Pokemon as he leaned forward, trying to look as sad as possible and obviously pouting, even without an actual face. Max could only giggle and playfully shove him in the arm.
"Besides, Stunner and I can try to not fear pokemon with spending some time with them."
Max smiled at that. "I know how ya feel," the teen commented. "Well, sorta. Used to be afraid of Pokemon I didn't know, and big Pokemon especially. Took me taking care of one -," he gestured to Ninetails, whom now sat comfortably next to him "- to realize that not all of them were bad."
He could still remember finding Ninetails as a little Vulpix, and offering to take care of her, even though the Taruos stampede had made him rather afraid of all Pokemon that he didn't know. After taking care of her, of course, he was quite happy to start his own journey, and even took quite a liking to fire types as well. He sometimes had to wonder what might have happened to him if he hadn't found Ninetails in that den with his father's Mightyena. Probably wouldn't have started a journey, or, at the very least, would have been unable to train Pokemon as well as he had.=, nor would he be where he was today.
A sudden noise from nearby made both Max and Dusk lean over to see what was making it. A small, deer like Pokemon poked it's head out of the bushes a few moments later, and Max all but had to hold Dusk back from greeting it; instead holding his arm out with the large ghost Pokemon made a happy sound and went to hover towards the little Pokemon as Elexi let her Pokemon go to greet it. Sometimes, Dusk was just a little too happy to meet others.
"That's a start, letting your Pokemon greet a wild one," Max stated as he dropped his arm. "Pokemon usually understand each other than we humans ever could. Might wanna be careful, though, 'cause some wild Pokemon really don't like human raised ones like starters."

For a moment, the Deerling seemed to be scared as the girl sent her grass type towards her. Was he going to fight her? He seemed rather happy, although she had heard from her mothers not to trust people and their Pokemon, and that they had their Pokemon attack you and put you in these strange objects and never let you out again. This Chikarita seemed nice, however, and it greeted her rather happily, making her lower her head in confused. She looked over it for a moment before managing a reply.
<"H-hello,"> she croaked out, still looking over the other Pokemon suspiciously as she did so. He seemed nice, but she didn't want to let her guard down too soon already.

Elexi Toya I walked over to the Deerling. I had to remember what Elexi had said. Be nice. I sat in front of the Deerling.
"Chika, Chikarita, Chik-Chika, Chika, Chikarita, Chikarita!" <First off, please don't be afraid of the female human over there and second, I'm Stunner the Chikarita! Please don't misunderstand the humans or I as not wild creatures as yourself. I came instead of Elexi, the female human, because she didn't want to scare you. She knows that wild pokemon don't quite like humans. She understands because she's a trainer!> This was usually a lot for me to say to another pokemon. I twitched the leaf on my head as a friendly gesture."
"I promise not to hurt you and so does my human! I know so!"
"I feel happy Stunner can actually listen for once." I sighed and showed a sign of a faint smile. I started to get into backpack. I pulled out a few containers.
"Are you or your pokemon hungry? I collected natural berries and I have pokemon food, oh! Pasta too!" I opened all the containers.
"I have plenty!" I smiled and set the food out on top of a cloth.

"Berries?" Max repeated rather quizzically. "Oh, um, no thank you! I made sure to bring enough for my Pokemon to have, as well as some Pokemon food. Thank you, though"
Dusk seemed to ignore his trainer completely, though. Even before the boy started speaking, the ghost type floated over to the girl, glancing over the containers before looking to her, a rather sweet and pleading expression on his face. Well, if you could call it that.
"Dusk?" <"Please?"> Dusk asked politely, tilting his head to the side in question.
He seemed to ignore the groan of annoyance from his trainer as well, although Max seemed to go ahead and let it slide after a moment. Sometimes, Dusk was just a little too asking of such things. Then again, he was asking permission to have one, and at least he wasn't trying to steal or take them from her or anything. At least it was a plus.

<"Really?"> the little deer Pokemon asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
She had always been told not to trust humans, although many that she Pokemon that she had met had been alright. This Chikarita - stunner, he had said his name was - seemed alright, and he seemed to know what he was talking about. He probably knew more about humans - and this girl - with the way his was talking. She had heard of Pokemon being raised around and by humans, although some weren't so nice. Again, he seemed nice, though. Should she trust him? She looked wearily back to the talking humans, before looking back to the other grass type.
<"This isn't some sort of trick, is it?"> the Deerling asked shyly, looking down in embarrassment from just asking the question. <"I-I just.... I haven't heard too many good stories about humans,"> she went on quietly, <"and you seem alright. I-it's just... I guess it'll be alright.">

Elexi Toya I chuckled and remembered the story that the Cyndaquil at the lab had told me.
"Chika, Chi-Chika, Chikarita Chika Chika Chik!" <I see, you've been told the pokeball tale, eh. Pokeballs are the balls that humans supposedly lock pokemon up in. Well, part of the story is true. Yes, humans catch pokemon or recieve them in strange balls, but the nice humans like mine don't keep you in there forever. Mine lets me out and she plays with me and we practice and gets me stronger! She feeds me and loves giving me the berries we find together as a team! I don't blame you though. Humans either have to use another pokemon to battle to catch a pokemon or a pokemon likes the human and accepts being in the pokeball. Thanks for trusting me though, I learned being nice from my human." I stared at Elexi with awe. She sat with others with such a happy expression on her face, but I knew she was glancing at me worriedly from the corner of her eye.
"I am my human's best friend as she is mine."
"Coolio, good to prepare! Dusknoir, you can have some!" I pushed the berries and food towards the ghost pokemon with a giggle.
