True Beauty Comes From Within "You guys did great!"
The gentle breeze rustled through the dry and leafless limbs of the naked trees. There wasn't a lot of snow to be found, but there was still a nip in the air. Morning sunlight sparkled off the sparse patches of snow littering the ground. Pokémon stayed cuddled up in their burrows, snuggling together for warmth or snoring together in hibernation. This was a very peaceful and quiet time for Viridian Forest. Well, mostly quiet. A small group was hustling and bustling near a rather large tree close to the entrance of the forest. Men were carrying around large boxes and set up lighting equipment. Women were busy trying to figure out how much snow to push away from the scene. A trio of photographers argued about which angle gave the best lighting. Meanwhile, Giovanni sat on a fold out chair with his name embroidered onto the back while two Butterfree floated about him. Spirit was easy to differentiate from the other Butterfree, because whatever Spirit would do, the other Butterfree would soon mimic it. Unbeknownst to anyone but the camera crew and Giovanni, the second pokémon was actually Tricky, transformed to look like Spirit. This had become common place. Whenever the photographers wanted pokémon for the photo shoot, Giovanni would have Tricky transform into a copy of the other one. It saved a lot of money and also made it easier to give the appearance of having more rare pokémon. For example, during a photo shoot near the lake back home in Pallet Town, Giovanni was supposed to take some swimsuit shots for that season's Summer Fashion line. The problem was, that he was supposed to take pictures with two Milotics, a very rare water pokémon, but the company could only get a hold of one. So, to 'save-the-day', Giovanni asked Tricky to transform into the Milotic. The photo shoot went off without another hitch. From then on, to save trouble (and the company some money), Tricky would take the place of the second needed pokémon. Giovanni was brought from his daze as both Spirit and Tricky (Disguised as Spirit) landed on his shoulders. "Oh? Hey there you two. You ready to start shooting?" He chuckled. Both the pokémon cheered in unison and floated off towards the spot where the pictures were to be taken.
***
The sun was now above about a fourth of the way up in the sky. The cameras were being packed up and the equipment being taken down. A Butterfree stood on each of Giovanni's shoulders and munched on a Red Poffin, while Giovanni drank from a warm thermos containing a quality brand of cocoa. He licked his lips and chuckled "You guys did great!" He patted each of them on the head gently. Spirit chirped happily while Tricky continued munching down the Poffin. He smiled warmly at them both. A short, young crew member walked over to Giovanni. The boy tugged down his scarf away from his mouth "Thanks Giovanni! We've got everything we need for now," a friendly smile played across his face as he watched the two butterfree eat their treat. "Would you like a ride back to town?" The boy motioned towards the two cars that were nearly ready to go. "Oh, no thank you. I think I'm going to stay and train in the forest a bit if you don't mind." Giovanni's smile was dazzling. The crew boy blushed, hoping he could blame it on the cold, before raising his scarf back up and nodding at Giovanni. "Alright then, you have fun." He quickly turned and walked for the car. With that, Giovanni closed the cap on his thermos, put it back in his bag and headed deeper into the forest. He heard the cars head off towards town. Yeah, I think some training would be good. Don't want to get rusty. he chuckled as the still disguised Tricky slid into the front of his coat, the Butterfree wings bulging the fabric in an odd shape. Spirit decided to venture upward and laid down on Giovanni's warm wool knit cap. Besides, you never know what I could run into in these woods...

She could go and not be bothered, except by Pokemon, which was alright with her. At the moment, she was particularly stressed from work, and had flown to Kanto for the rest of the day, refusing to stay in her stadium for the time being. She just needed to get out and away from the entire region. Nothing ahd gone particularly wrong, it was just stressful work, and she had lost the last three battles in a row.
Ali was with her, flying silently and slowly beside her. She said nothing, just gave her sadened looks every now and then. She was walking nearly aimlessly, wondering if she should stop and sit to clear her mind instead. She was a bit clumsy, so she would hurt herself if she didn't pay attention.
Which was just what she did.
She hadn't realized he was there. She hadn't even seen him! But next thing Brittani knew, she was flat on her back in a large snowbank, apparently falling backwards. She had bumped into a young man, and her cheeks flushed brightly. "I-I'm so sorry. she muttered, trying to sit up but failing. She snow was quite cold, and she didn't have much snow gear on. Just a coat and boots, so her fleece leggings were not very happy. She was trying to get up as quick as possible, but looked up at him at the same time. Which was a big mistake.
Brittani fell back again in surprise. On his head was a Butterfree, and something was bulging out of his coat in an odd shape. "Wha-?" And now she was stuck in the snow. Ali was no help, as usual. True Beauty Comes From Within "I hadn't meant literally!"
After all, you never know what you'll run into in these woods. Giovanni smiled to himself as he began to head into the forest. The walk was short lived because as soon as he made it around the large tree, a girl passing by bumped right into his side. I hadn't meant literally! His soft black hair curled gently near his cheeks as he bent down over the girl. He was taken aback as she scrambled when catching sight of him. Though, he was used to this. Normally it was girls scrambling at him instead of away from. There's no way she's from Kanto. The seven foot, extremely handsome man leaned down with a dazzling smile. "Do you need some help Miss?" He extended his hand out to help her. As he did so, a small second butterfree poked its head out from underneath his jacket. While he was holding his hand out, he examined the pokémon floating next to the girl. He thought he remembered it being called an Altaria or something to that effect? A Dragon using pokémon trainer from out of Kanto? Where had he heard of that before? He knew he recognized her face from somewhere. "You know Miss, it's probably warmer if you don't sit in the snow." He gave a warm smile, his natural good looks shining through. Tricky climbed out of his jacket and began floating around Giovanni's head with Spirit, almost like dizzy birds.

But this one probably took the cake. The man soon was hovering over her that she had bumped into, and Brittani groaned mentally. Arceus, why couldn't it be someone not attractive? Somehow, she always made a fool of herself in front of either: a) Her friends or b) People she wanted to be friends with. More commonly attractive men, as shallow as it seemed.
Out of his coat came another Butterfree, and Brittani realized that was the only thing that the shape could have been. She took his hand gratefully, straightening. "Yeah... Snow and I have a hate-hate relationship." She laughed nervously, scratching the back of her head.
"I-I'm sorry I bumped into you." Brittani blurted out suddenly, looking to Ali and avoiding the man's gaze. Ali smirked, knowing exactly what was going on. Her trainer was always like that, which was her main source of entertainment. Poor Brittani though, now her leggings were all wet, and she was shaking, her teeth chattering as well. This was not a good day for her. She had come to the Viridian Forest for peace and quiet, certainly not this. Maybe she could sneak away without him noticing. Was that possible? Probably not, but she could try. Brittani shook her head slightly. That wouldn't work. He would think she was a weirdo, which she had to admit, she certainly was, but he probably realized who she was by now. So her only choice was to stay and chat. WORD COUNT. ▷ 254 words. True Beauty Comes From Within "There we are, can't have you freezing now can we?"
The girls was stammering nervously. Now this was a reaction he was used to. He knew he was attractive and he knew it intimidated people a bit, but he would never be so shallow as to flaunt it. In fact, he preferred it that people just thought of him as a normal guy. It didn't take a genius to see the girl was cold. Her stockings seemed to have absorbed a lot of the snow. Well then, my choice is obvious. He chuckled as the girl looked nervously away towards her scoffing Altaria. With a quick shift of his outfit, Giovanni placed the light coat he was wearing over the girls shoulders. This was actually easier than he expected due to his extremely tall seven foot height and her reasonably shorter one. "There we are. Can't have you freezing, now can we?" Spirit and Tricky landed on each of his shoulders. Admittedly, he looked almost more handsome with his pale features accentuated by the white wings of the bug pokémon. Interesting, he thought She looks rather cute with the designer blue jacket on. Better not tell her that, lest she fall into the snow again. The thought still pecked at the back of his mind. Where had he seen her before? Was she a model that he had worked with before? No, she wouldn't be hanging around the woods. A Gym Leader perhaps? No... but that seemed closer. Wait, that was it! He nodded. This has to be her. That would explain the Altaria as well! " Miss, would you happen to be Brittani Derosier? One of the members of the Sinnoh Elite four?" he tilted his head, still not 100% sure that was where she was from. As he asked her this, he wrapped his blue scarf around her chin carefully. After all, he was tall and stored heat better. She was small and would lose it faster. She needed his scarf more than he did. Word Count 347 Notes [/color]Awwww~ Shes so cute! Had he not figured out who she was yet? The thought crossed Brittani's mind as she stood, still shaking. She glanced back to her Altaria again, who had calmed down considerably and was stretching, acting like she hadn't seen anything.
While Brittani's head was turned, she felt a light weight on her shoulders, and she became considerably warmer. Her head snapped back and her eyes widened. The man -- who she didn't even know the name of -- had placed his own jacket on her shoulders. She blinked slowly, taking in the change and trying to understand his purpose. Was it just... our of pure kindness? No. That wasn't possible. People always wanted something from her. They didn't just do anything for the goodness of doing it.
She had never seen him before, that was for sure, but he seemed to be contemplating who she was. Brittani wouldn't tell him, she either wanted him to figure out on his own, or not figure out at all. It would certainly make things much easier. She stayed silent, looking him up and down, observing his tall frame. He certainly was handsome, and Brittani was somewhat aware of the fact that he knew that. He wasn't shoving it in her face for once, though. Not many people were like that to her. Maybe that's why she hadn't just run off like she had planned.
But there it was. He was asking if she was Brittani, and she certainly was. But did she really want to tell him? She had come for peace and quiet, not wet leggings and a knight in shining armor with a new coat- Arceus, and a soft scarf as well. She knew now that she owed it to him to tell the truth, whether she liked it or not. "Y-Yeah, that's me." She shrugged, hoping he wouldn't make that big of a deal out of it, like pretty much everyone else did. She could have a dream, couldn't she?
Ali came towards them, looking at Brittani with the coat draped around her small figure, and she nearly looked like she was swimming in it. But it was warm. Definitely warm. Ali nuddged her trainer softly, making Brittani hold the front of the jacket with one hand, and pat her lightly on the head with the other. WORD COUNT. ▷ 390 words. True Beauty Comes From Within "It's all the same to me really."
Giovanni could easily tell that she seemed upset or sad about something. Had he offended her in some way? No, wait... She was an Elite Four... He nodded. It's like when fans of mine bombard me and ask for pictures. She doesn't want to be praised! She wants to be treated normally. He blinked when he realized he should say something before she got confused. "Well then, what a lovely chance meeting. It's nice to meet you Miss Derosier." He gave a half bow, showing his respect. "My name is Giovanni Brighton." Right as he said that, Spirit landed on his head. "Oh, and this is my Butterfree. You can call him Spirit." and as he said THAT, Tricky landed in his arms and let the illusion dissipate, appearing as a normal Zorua. "Heh, and this is my newest pal Tricky. Say hello guys!" The butterfree chirped happily and Zorua sniffed in the girls direction before giving a happy bark. Both pokémon were glancing at the Altaria. Of course they were confused, seeing as how they had never met one before.Spirit floated off Giovanni's head and began to float around the Dragon Type, dancing a happy greeting. Tricky was content with staying in Giovanni's warm arms. "Would you care to go for a walk Miss Derosier?" He turned and looked into the forest. The late morning light did make it all look quite beautiful. He didn't even look back towards her before asking "And if you're worried about me treating you oddly because you're an Elite Four? Don't." He chuckled and turned his head towards her, giving another smile. "After all, you're still a person right? It's all the same to me really." Something about this day made Giovanni know it was going to be great. It filled him with a strange kind of warmth, but he liked it. It was easy to tell that Miss Derosier and he were going to be good friends. A walk through the forest just seemed more like something she would want to do! After all, she's probably in Kanto to get away from it all. It is the least populous region after all. And it's probably a lot calmer then the big bustling cities of Sinnoh. "What do you say? ❝ Which way is right, which way is wrong? How do I say that I need to move on? ❞ Tags: Gio | Notes: If you wanna, post in my plotting thread. :3 | Words: 312 Brittani had taught herself how to handle fans. But they were normally under the age of fifteen. So she hoped very much so that he wouldn't make such a big deal out of it.
"Nice to meet you, Giovanni." Despite her previous thoughts, a small smile greeted her lips, and she giggled at his bow. No one ever bowed for her or called her "Miss". Well, except that one time... But that was another story. And Noah didn't really count. They had their own names and habits, they were too close to be counted in the majority.
Brittani waved at the Butterfree apparently named Spirit, and her eyes widened as she watched what she thought was another Butterfree morph into a Zorua. "I've never really seen a Zorua in real life before..." She trailed off, and lightly scratched the dog-like Pokemon behind the ears. Ali liked getting the attention she was getting as well, cooing softly.
A walk? Well, that was what she had been doing, but it was a much more frustrated jog, when she thought about it. And he stated clearly that he thought of them as equals. In a good way. Brittani nodded. That was what sold the deal for sure.
"Well why not, Mr. Brighton?" She giggled, moving to stand by his side. Ali followed hesitantly, glaring at the snow around them. She detested it but had braved out their walk to make her trainer happy. Now that she had someone to walk with, Ali believed that she had no reason to still be outside of her Pokeball. Smirking, Brittani dug into her bag to find the sphere and return her Pokemon to it.
"She doesn't like the snow very much." Brittani explained, turning back to face Gio. Not allowing herself to pass up the opportunity for a good joke, she added, "and apparently neither do my leggings."

True Beauty Comes From Within "I'll take that as a yes?"
Giovanni watched as Brittani returned the Altaria to its pokéball. "Oh!" Giovanni pulled the clip holding Spirit's pokéball off his hip. "Do you want to go back inside too Spirit? I know bug pokémon don't like the cold." He tilted his head. He didn't know for sure, but then again, Spirit never seemed to be perturbed by anything, but he still thought it wise to ask. The little butterfree chirped in what could only be assumed as something like Yes Please! or Certainly! before floating over and landing on Giovanni's face. Giovanni let out a muffled noise of confusion. "I'll take that as a yes?" and with that, he tapped the small capsule on the pokémon before it disappeared in a flash of red light. "Pokémon. Ever the mysterious creatures aren't they Miss Derosier?" Giovanni chuckled before blinking and getting a look of curiosity on his face. "Umm... Miss Derosier... may I call you Brittani?" He was still smiling.. He was finding it hard to remove that smile. "And if I may, what would someone of the Sinnoh Elite Four be doing out in Viridian Forest?" this had been pecking at the back of his head ever since he had realized who she was. ❝ Which way is right, which way is wrong? How do I say that I need to move on? ❞ Tags: Gio | Notes: ... | Words: 304 So he was returning Spirit back to its ball as well? It seemed like a very affectionate Pokemon, that was for sure. Brittani always knew who to trust based on how they treated their Pokemon and if the Pokemon respected them as well. The loving, playful nature that Spirit had with Giovanni was very comforting, and Brittani giggled at its mischief.
"They are." Brittani nodded, listening, but training her eyes on the area far ahead of them. "Yeah, that's perfectly fine." She didn't mention that not really anyone called her "Miss". And she felt the urge to tell him that some called her Brit, one in particular, but she felt also that it was something special. Maybe, if they grew closer, he would find out on his own, but for now, she would keep quiet about it.
Why was she here? When she thought about it, she could've gone somewhere closer to home, so she wouldn't have such a long trip back. But she didn't exactly have a clear head at the time. "It's... Been a stressful day in the Pokemon League. I needed to get out." She said simply, shrugging. She didn't tell the whole story, and she was sort of vague, but he could ask more specific questions if he wanted more detail.
Brittani kept her gaze locked on the trees ahead of them. The Kanto region was the place she went to the least, so she wasn't really sure why she had picked it, as it was also the farthest place possible to go to. Maybe it was fate, she thought cheesily. It was kind of lucky that they had bumped into each other like that. Well, really, she just bumped into him and made a fool of herself. But hey, she got a warm coat and scarf out of it.

"I see." And that was all he said. Tricky looked about as they walked, his tail thumping against Giovanni's T-shirt. Readjusting his glasses was about all he did before falling extremely silent. He was just walking about and admiring the beauty. The fact that he had a beautiful companion with which to walk was just an added bonus one would surmise. The trees that still had a few dried leaves still clinging to them for dear life seemed to shiver. They shook gently as if to say Go on little leaf, your life is done. Time for another Leaf to begin growing here. Nature had so much beauty in it. It was awe inspiring sometimes. Being so tall had its advantages. Giovanni took some time to actually examine his walking partner: Long light brown hair, Orange berets holding it up in certain place. ❝ Which way is right, which way is wrong? How do I say that I need to move on? ❞ Tags: Gio | Notes: She be craaaazy. xD | Words: 382 He clearly didn't want to press on the subject if she was uncomfortable about it, which she certainly sounded like, but maybe she needed someone to talk to about it. But she wouldn't subject the poor man to her endless ranting. Once she started, she simply didn't stop, much like the thoughts that always went on in her head.
The silence was both creepy and deliciously pleasant, giving Brittani a bit of time to just walk and think, considering the day's events. She fought an inner battle with herself, deciding if she could or could not confide in Giovanni. She had just met him, but she could tell instantly that they would be good friends, even if they were in separate regions. She made a mental note to get some form of contact from him before they went their separate ways.
Her head told her no, her heart told her yes. Giovanni seemed to be a good listener, and she a good talker, though she went on a tad too long at times. More like all the time. But that was a different topic entirely.
A laugh interrupted her thoughts, and Brittani looked up into Gio's eyes, confused. He was tall, she realized, quite tall. "Hm?" She muttered, tilting her head like a Pokemon would, and she laughed a little at herself. Brittani shrugged, dropping the topic.
Should she ask him for advice? No. No. She couldn't do that. But next thing she knew, the words were tumbling out of her mouth whether she liked it or not.
"I know this is weird, and we just met, but I don't have anyone to talk to about this, and you seem nice, so I just... Ikindahavesomeguyproblems... and I thought you might be able to help. It's part of the reason I'm out here. To get away and think about it." The amount of talking she was doing was unhealthy. She sucked in a breath, looking down at her feet and clutching the coat hanging over her shoulders tightly. "B-Because I kinda like this guy who barely knows I'm alive... And yet there's this really nice guy who I could kinda see myself with but..." She had to stop talking. She had to. This could go on forever and she was just embarrassing herself.

True Beauty Comes From Within "Love is... a lot like an Eevee, you know?"
Without skipping a beat, Giovanni spoke up. "Love advice?" he continued to look at the leaf as it struggled to hang on to the tree. At first he was a bit silent, just walking closer to the tree with the leaf. The leaf was so close to falling. It makes me think about the frailty of it all. He stopped at the base of the tree and began again. "Love is... a lot like an Eevee, you know?" he nodded. "See, love has the potential to go anywhere. It could be with a boy or a girl. It could be Smooth and Flowing like a Vaporeon, Hot and Passionate like a Flareon, or even Erratic and Sparking like a Jolteon." The tree finally managed to shake the leaf loose. Reaching up, Giovanni grabbed the small leaf before it could fall to the earth. "But, there's a problem with love. If you don't put forth the evolutionary stone of effort" He turned, his gel blue eyes serious, but friendly. He placed the dried small leaf on Brittani's nose "You're never going to be able to make it evolve into Love." The leaf stayed put on her nose. He tilted his head and chuckled. "See what I'm saying?" Giovanni reached forward and brushed a lock of Brittani's hair behind her ear. "Was that explanation any help?" The smile played across his face yet again. Talking with this girl made him happy, and he hoped he could talk with her more than just for today. He had to remember to grab her phone number, for sure. ❝ Which way is right, which way is wrong? How do I say that I need to move on? ❞ Tags: Gio | Notes: ;;; | Words: 337 She had expected Gio to be creeped out, or laugh in her face. What she hadn't expected was a heartfelt answer. Why she hadn't seen it coming, she didn't know. She blinked slowly as Gio began talking, listening carefully, taking it way too seriously, like she was back in school, listening to her teacher.
She followed him slowly, looking up the tree, into the branches. She hadn't seen the particular leaf that Gio had, until it was in his grasp, and she was focusing more on his words rather than actions, so when he placed the leaf on her nose, Brittani nearly jerked in surprise, not realizing how close he had gotten. Somehow, she managed to keep it balancing on her nose, a small game emerging for her. She had the attention span of a Rattata.
But his words made sense. Brittani stood silent for a moment, mulling it over, before she opened her mouth to speak, and her head jerked downwards as she let out a small, high-pitched sneeze due to the leaf still being on her nose. It floated down to the ground, and Brittani laughed slightly awkwardly. "Yeah... Yeah, that makes sense."
She was pretty sure that Goro was as uninterested as possible, he had his Pokemon, and that was enough. But maybe she could give it a try. Noah, on the other hand, who she didn't see as often, but she knew there was something there. But something told her that it wasn't on her end. Meaning she didn't feel anything, he did. Gio wouldn't ask names, would he? Arceus, that would be embarrassing. He would probably think that he wouldn't know who the guy(s) were, and he wouldn't know Goro, but he would certainly know who Noah was.
"Yeah..." She said again, looking down at her feet. "I just... Decisions are hard." She grumbled, crossing her arms. She wasn't angry with Gio, not in the slightest, and she hoped that she made that clear. He was quite the help, in fact.

True Beauty Comes From Within "So ask yourself Brittani, who do you want to be your pokémon"
He chuckled again, placing a hand on her head. "That's all part of being a human. You've got to do the grown up things and make the hard decisions." He looked down at Tricky, who was now snoozing in his arms. "Pokémon are our friends and they let us make the hard decisions and think everything out because they trust us. They love us. And when we love them in return, that is when we are at our strongest." He chuckled, gently lifting his hand from Brittani's head to scratch lovingly at Tricky's ears while he slept. "Pokémon love without holding back and dream with everything they have. All around the world, it doesn't matter to them. Love for humans is only harder because we fear rejection." The air had grown almost warmer, though it was unsure if it was from the noon sunlight or from the heat of the moment. "So ask yourself Brittani, who do you want to be your pokémon?" He knew it sounded off when taken literal, but he could tell she was smart enough to figure out what he meant. Looks like it's time to let her figure the rest out on her own. She's an Elite Four. I know she can do it. Reaching into the coat she was wearing, he handed her the small booklet that was hidden within. Her turned to leave, not asking for the coat or the scarf back. He just headed off. Without looking over his shoulder, he spoke back to the girl. "It was nice meeting you Brittani. Just call the number in the back of that book and the ask to speak with me. They'll patch you through." And with that, he left. The only things she had to remember him by were his coat, his scarf, the magazine from his modeling company, and the remnant of his words still ringing in her ears...
