"Get a move on it!" Soul growled, his tone annoyed and short tempered. The Charmeleon in front of him cowered and quickly picked up the pace. Wading through the shallow water nervously, it's tail held as high as possible. Soul followed with his hands in his pockets. His gaze raking the surrounding marshland for any sign of movement. A young Rufflet perched on his shoulder, puffed up to repel the moist air. Including the growling Zangoose following close behind, they made a pretty miserable bunch. Soaked and cold since morning when they entered the Marshlands. It was just bast noon now, but Soul refused to turn back until they found a pokemon worth battling. He was determined to train and evolve Charmeleon. Hoping that as a charazard it would finally cut the crap and be a pokemon worth having.
As the Charmeleon slowed once more Soul gave it a shove with his foot, sending the pokemon sprawling into the water with a surprised yelp. "The faster you move the faster we can find a pokemon and get out of this hellish place. If Widow gets a cold from this I'll show you what real fear is!" Soul spat, the Rufflet cuddling up against his hair and giving a chirp at hearing it's name. Widow was probably the only being alive that could get away with touching soul, much less cuddling him. And the reason was still a mystery, even to Soul himself. Charmeleon pushed itself to it's feet and quickly moved on, glancing about nervously and being careful not to slow down.

From somewhere off, on a rather large boulder, a Pokemon sat squatted down, seeming to snooze the day away. It didn't seem to have anything better to do, seeing as how it had managed to prank and thus elude plenty of trainers and their Pokemon that day. Having such a workout made him reasonably tired for the moment, so he had decided to take a rest for a little while. Well, until he heard the sound of some Pokemon and a human walking nearby. It was obvious that the human wasn't happy, which made the Pokemon open it's eye and peer out. It could make out move figures from the tree line, and, being the curious Pokemon it was, ambled off of it's rock and towards the figures. Noticing it was yet another human, and realizing that they actually seemed worth more than the other trainers, decided to have a little bit more fun than usual with them.
A WILD CROAGUNK APPEARED!Male | Lvl 32 | Dry Skin Taunt | Mud Bomb | Swagger | Headbutt
The Croagunk seemed to wait for the opportune time, before suddenly leaping out in front of the small group with a cry."Croagunk Gunk!" it said rather loudly, and proceeded to launch itself towards the nearest Pokemon - which happened to be the Charmeleon - with a headbutt attack.

Soul paused and listened, having thought he'd heard something. After a moment he continued following his Charmeleon. Figuring if he did he'd probably find out later anyway. Which, as it turned out, he was right. A few minutes later a pokemon suddenly erupted from the foliage and blocked their path. A Croagunk. Unexpected as it was, it did make sense for such a pokemon to be among water pokemon in the marsh. It seemed strong, well at least stronger than Charmeleon anyway. Which wasn't saying to much in Soul's opinion. But, he knew it was still a battle worth fighting.
Charmeleon yelped in surprise once more as he was suddenly attacked. Caught off-balence he was hit hard by the headbutt before he had a chance to dodge. Sending him skidding backwards in the water, his tail narrowly missing the water. "Charmeleon, keep your distance and use Heatwave." Soul's command remained calm despite the sneak attack catching them all off-guard. Hearing his trainer's command Charmeleon shook himself off and tried to ignore the damage the last move had done, determined not to loose. He parted his jaws and a red-orange ball quickly formed in Charmeleon's mouth, a wind of flames spewing out from the ball in a torrent headed right for the Croagunk.

Well, at least this trainer and his Charmeleon didn't seem like they were too weak or anything. The foe instantly came back with a heatwave, and, due to the attack being quite large, it was rather unavoidable; the move sent the dual type Pokemon flying backwards, and into the mud and water. The Croagunk literally had to pry himself out of it, a slurping sound easily heard as this was happening. After shaking itself off, the Croagunk seemed to stare for a moment, before making a rather taunting expression, before suddenly scooping up a lot of mud and water, and, after positioning it, sent a mud bomb towards the opponent.

Charmeleon snarled half-heartily as the wild pokemon seemed to taunt him, taking a more aggressive stance. As the mud bomb was thrown at him he froze, cowering. "Counter it with Thunder Punch!" Soul commanded from his place standing on a rock just above the water's surface. Widow chirped from his shoulder excitedly, watching the battle with a joyful expression. At his trainers command Charmeleon forced himself to move, fearful of disappointing Soul. He ran to meet the attack. His forepaw glowing a brilliant yellow and sending off sparks as he slammed it into the Mud bomb midair, the reaction sending him sprawling backwards once more. "On your feet Charmeleon! Follow up with Dragon Rush!" Soul's voice once more rang out. Forcing Charmeleon to his feet. Charmeleon's body become surrounded in a light blue glow as he began to charge towards the wild pokemon, leaping into the air. As he neared the Croagunk a blue a dragon-shaped aura formed around his body, sending him at the Croagunk full force.

He'd been hoping that the Mud Bomb would hit correctly, due to the attack having a rather good effect on fire types like this Charmeleon. However, the trainer must have been thinking or something; having his Pokemon Dragon Rush in order to try and block it. It was somewhat effective, as the fire type did go flying back into the ground, however he was sure that he didn't get as much of the attack as he had planned. Then the fire type seemed to get right in and rushed him with a thunder punch, leaving him no time to dodge; making him fly back as well. The Croagunk was lucky to do a flip of the sort and land on his feet, however he was feeling a little woozy. He was sure that he was going to faint pretty soon with just a couple more hits.
With a rather annoyed expression, the wild Pokemon launched forward with another headbutt at the Charmeleon.

Charmeleon landed lightly on his feet after the attack, his breath coming out in short puffs. Fatigue was taking a toll on him after the damage from the Croagunks first headbutt and the countered blow he took from the Mudbomb. Slowing his agility considerably. Of course Soul knew this and as the Croagunk launched itself at Charmeleon once more, going in for another headbutt, he knew it would be useless to command him to dodge. So instead he chose a more risky option. "Stand firm. When Croagunk nears use Fire Fang!" Charmeleon gritted his teeth nervously but obeyed, remaining still instead of attempting to dodge. He was struck full force and dug his claws into the mud to remain standing. He immediately parted his jaws, flames engulfing his mouth as he aimed the attack at the wild pokemon. By the looks of it Charmeleon wouldn't last much longer. Soul watched the battle, a rather detached expression darkening his face. He wondered if the Croagunk was worth catching, but after all this whole escapade was to level up Charmeleon was it not? Catching it would defeat the purpose of it all. No, he wouldn't try to catch this one. For now he had all the pokemon he needed, and Charmeleon and Mawile still needed some working on for sure.

This trainer really didn't seem interested in what was going on, did he? At least, he seemed more interested in his Pokemon atcually hitting him rather than making him faint. Then again, humans were a rather odd species, and it wasn't like this was unnatural or anything; he'd ran into a few different types of humans in his lifetime, so really, nothing seemed to amaze him about humans anymore.
As the Charmeleon launched a fire fang his way, the Croagunk decided not to try and dodge; instead, he leap forward with a headbutt right into the attack, knowing he would get hurt in the process. Right afterwards, he launched another mud bomb at the fire type. At this rate, the next attack would probably prove fatal to the dual type Pokemon.

Smart pokemon. Soul thought, watching the Croagunk counter. Charmeleon was thrown back by the headbutt and landed hard on his back. Having no time to even push himself to his feet before he was struck by a mud bomb attack. "Don't you dare faint until this battle is over." Soul growled from where he stood. ZANG! Zangoose hissed from beside Soul, a hidden threat if the charmeleon dared disobey their trainer. Charmeleon opened his eyes and slowly pushed himself to his knees, to tired to properly stand but to scared to give up. "Finish this up with Heat Wave!" Soul demanded. At his trainers call Charmeleon parted his jaws once more. Blasting out a powerful Heat Wave at his opponent. This was it, one of them was going to faint. He just hoped it would be the Croagunk.

This trainer seemed.... rather mean towards his Pokemon. Sure, he had seen a few act as such, although he was sure that this one was a little different than those ones. It wasn't as if it would matter to him, though; the heatwave came barreling towards him, knocking him backwards into the mud before he could so much as blink. He could feel his body starting to fail him, and he was sure that he was done for now. Hopefully, the trainer would show him a lease a little more pity than he was showing his Pokemon.

Soul hopped off of his rock and waded over to the two pokemon. Good Job. He murmured, returning charmeleon to his pokeball. He glanced at the croagunk for a moment. Thinking. "What do you think, Widow? Take him or leave him?" He coed, petting the Rufflet once more softly. Zangoose looked at him oddly, always finding Soul's rare kindness a little unnerving. The Rufflet chirped and tilted her head at the pokemon before nodding her head. At that, Soul tossed a pokeball at the Croagunk. A new pokemon to join his team.

His fun is with messing with people and making them mad, although he knows when to stop, or rather where. Whenever he isn't doing such, he enjoys sleeping or simply watching others battle or play. Although, when it comes to battling, [nickname] doesn't mind them that much. In fact, whenever he has to battle for himself, [nickname] can be rather strategic at times, if not a little trickster. That is only to get his opponents mad, however, in the hopes of loosing their temper so they can't think as clear or, if in a trainer battle, not listen to their owner so he can have a quicker win.
