She already had three Pokemon, which surprised her a lot. She didn't think that she'd get three this fast! Then again, it took a while to find Derrick, and she had adopted Guardian, so then again, she only had to half try. Sort of. Now, of course, it was time for training. She needed to train Marsh and the others in order to beat the first gym leader and earn her first badge, and she couldn't wait[ to go back home and show off her new Pokemon, either! Her parents would be so proud of her, especially if she brought back a badge with her as well. But first she had to train, as she said before, and the first one to start was Marsh.
"Alright, Marsh!" said the teenager rather loudly as they stood in the middle of the route, Casey trying - and somewhat failing - at looking serious. "Now we're going to train some, so that way we can defeat the first Pokemon Gym Leader and earn our first badge!"
Said Mudkip sat at her feet, head cocked as he looked at her curiously. When she finished talking, he looked at her for a moment before shouting rather happily, "Mud Mudkip!" He nearly jumped off of the ground as he did so. Casey smiled at this.
"Good!" she replied, taking that as some forum of agreement. "Of course.... We have to find a Pokemon to battle, and I haven't really seen any all day...."
At that, she sounded sad, and Marsh lowered his head as well before perking up. "Mud Mudkip!" he said happily as he began venturing around the small area, obviously searching for a Pokemon. Casey couldn't help but giggle at that.

A level 6 Gulpin came wondering along! Ability;; Liquid Ooze Pound || Yawn There was the little little green ball, sleeping in his little hiding hole, burrowed deep in the dead, brown grass. There wasn't anything better to him than sitting by himself, sleeping the day away. He was dreaming of the warm sunny skies bringing a nice heat wave to his area so he could go out and play, after all, that was his favorite thing to do. Suddenly, and without reason, his dream went sour. Earthquakes began to plague the sunny skies! Jolting awake, the Gulpin couldn't help but to be upset his dream had been ruined, until something far worse happened to him. Some careless trainer was walking too close to his hiding spot and almost squashed him!
Angry the Gulpin hopped up from his nice warm home and started to chase after the trianer. 'How dare you! What are you thinking almost hurting me? I DEMAND YOU COME BACK AND APOLOGIZE!!' He hopped forward in the most fury he had been in in all of his short life. There was nothing worse than a rude trainer. It was like they weren't even teaching the younger ones how to be nice! The Pokemon let out of huff. Why wasn't the trainer apologizing?! 'Don't be rude!!! OH YOU TRAINERS ARE ALL RUDE!!! Why do I even bother?' The little green ball, in a lot of distress, turned to go back to it's home and await the end of winter.

Casey was actually rather sad that there weren't many Pokemon out and about. Sure, it was winter, but there still had to be some Pokemon out and about and doing something, right? They couldn't all be hibernating or have moved out for the winter, right? It still felt fairly nice in Hoenn, however a chill was in the air. But that wouldn't drive any Pokemon away, would it? Of course it wouldn't! ... Right? Pokemon actually leaving made her kind of sad; without any Pokemon, they wouldn't be able to train any or to catch anymore Pokemon to add to their team. And that wasn't a good thing, not at all! Casey, being wrapped up in her thoughts as she usually was, didn't see the Gulpin coming, and thus squealed rather loudly in surprised, making Marsh jump out from a bush he had his head poked in as well.
The Gulpin seemed to be mad at something, yelling in his own little language at the girl. After a moment, it was obvious that Casey was rather confused as to what he was saying; she couldn't exactly speak Pokemon, and had yet to find a Pokemon could speak - telepathically or otherwise - with her. Marsh seemed just as confused, however more sad than confused. So they had woken it up and almost destroyed it's home? Oops. Well, they'd have to be more careful next time. If he could get Casey to be, that is.... After the Gulpin was finished with it's ranting, it turned, and started to go back to where it came from.
Casey squealed again, however this time, not in surprise. "Oh no, it's getting away!" she cried, an edge of panic in her voice. "Um, um, Marsh, use Avalanche!"
The Mudkip gave her a confused expression, however merely shrugged it off and launched himself towards the Gulpin. Closing his mouth tightly, it seemed to suddenly get a little big and fill up with something. Opening it, the little creature shot out an array of snow and ice that formed a for of avalanche that rushed towards the Gulpin. The force was enough to make him go skidding back a little.

A level 6 Gulpin came wandering along! Ability;; Liquid Ooze Pound || Yawn Nothing was worse than rude trainers. The Gulpin couldn't help but mutter to himself as he traveled back to his home. He didn't want anything to do with another trainer until winter was over and he could enjoy the nice warm air! Brr, the little green thing thought to himself as it suddenly got colder... And then much, much more chilly as the avalanche attack rushed toward him. He was shocked by the sheer cold and hurt by the attack that sent him rolling a little bit. There was nothing worse than being attacked by some ice attack.
Shaking his little head, the Gulpin turned to face a Mudkip standing there ready to attack. 'Oh you are going down,' he said before charging forward. He wasn't sure exactly what he was going to do until the moment he was close. It was decided with a few seconds before the danger zone, that the little poison Pokemon was going to use Pound. His tiny little stub of an arm began to glow white as the creature flung itself into the air. He smashed his arm downward in the direction of the Mudkip, hoping that it landed effectively.

Alright, so it was obvious that the Gulpin was not happy. Then again, she might have not been, either, if someone had attacked her like that. She would have reacted the same way, really. Well, somewhat. It was her fault that she panicked, though, and had Marsh attack the poor little creature. He had just been doing as he was told, and she really couldn't blame him for that. That was what a good Pokemon would do for their trainer, right? Her parent's Pokemon would do that for them, she knew. Or, at least she guessed. She really hadn't seen her mother's Pokemon ever participate in a battle, and her father's Pokemon were trained to battle against trainers. Or at least she assumed so.
The Gulpin instantly countered with a pound attack, seemingly urged on by some sort of rage. Marsh didn't have any time to try and dodge the attack, and thus was hit back by the attack, a mark on his head where it had hit. The little water type seemed to grimace from the pain before looking back to his trainer sadly.
"Oh, I can do this," the girl mumbled, her hands balled up at her mouth as she tried to think. "Uh, oh, alright! Use growl, then use tackle!"
Marsh nodded, and, turning back to the Gulpin, growled at the poison type Pokemon before launching forward and aiming to tackle it.
