Rune was out of the gym, deciding to wander around the area around mount moon and just relax in his usual attire. He let his pidgeot out, which was flying fairy high up in the air happily. It, scyther, and glaceon were the only pokemon from his mainline team with him, the other two, Ninetails and raichu, were used occasionally but more for traveling. Though, he had come to the realization he needed to get some lower level pokemon for traveling and all. It wasn't at all enjoyable when he had rookie trainers insist on challenging him in non badge fights, and there newly gotten and still young pokemon got taken out easily by his highly experienced team.
Though, other then a nearby pokemon center, he chose here because he wasn't about to turn pidgeot loose on Viridian forest. The bird type had a thing for going after bug types. One reason why the relationship between it and his scyther was tenuous at times. though both were of the flying type, scyther was stil also a bug type, and when he first got scyther, there had been plenty of fights between the two. That had always been fun. If he ever got another bug type, he wasn't letting pidgeot near it. He walked around the grass a little ways from the pokemon center at the caves entrance, seeing who or what he could find.
