Marsh the Mudkip; Guardian the Shiny Ralts Casey May Jennings
"Oh, Mudkip, I can't believe we finally made it!" the girl squealed as she jumped up and down a little bit, her eyes shimmering.
Within a few minutes of finally leaving the lab, the duo had managed onto the first route that many trainers in Hoenn came to when starting their journey; for Casey, it was the journey of a life time. [Although many people wouldn't see it as that was; she just sometimes over-did things when she tried to explain things.] The girl was nearly skipping happily through the tall grass, and was surprised that no Pokemon had jumped out at her or had dashed off when she passed. Maybe it was the Mudkip, but she really didn't know. Speaking of the Mudkip, she was really starting to like him; they seemed to have a lot in common, as she soon found out.
"So, Mudkip," the girl said as she came to a stop at a bare spot where no grass was found; the Mud Fish Pokemon quickly slowed down from his running to stay near her, however did not seem the least bit tired from trying to keep up with the girl; he in fact seemed a little happy from the running. "I was thinking... I should really give you a nick name, you know? Can't have you running around without a name, now can we?"
"Mudkip!" the little Pokemon happily obliged in what the girl had said. Casey, in return, gave a smile; how cute was he?
"I thought so," she giggled before squatting down and putting her finger on her lip in thought. "Hm.... So what would a good name for a Mudkip like you be?" she mused aloud, and event he Mudkip sat down in thought with it's trainer, focusing on the ground as he thought harshly. "Oh! I know!" Casey said cheerfully after a moment of thought, nearly startling the Mudkip due to the moment of silence that they had. "How about Marsh? You know, sine that's where you and your evolutions come from and all?"
"Kip!" the Mudkip happily nodded as he stood up, wagging his fin tail in agreement to his new name. "Kip Kip Mudkip!"
"Well that's good then!" Casey cheered as she popped to her feet, clapping her hands together in the process. She seemed to smile for a moment before that smile faded, and she looked around confusingly. "Now if we only had someone to battle..."

The young Zigzagoon had been foraging for something to eat, rustling through the tall grasses in hopes of finding some delicious berries to chow down on. Not having much luck, he decided to try a different area, hopefully he'd find something over there and if not? Well, he'd figure that out later.
He waddled out of the tall grasses but stopped short when a strange scent invaded his nostrils. Lifting his face to the sky, he took in a big whiff, cocking his head to the side in a curious manner. Strange, he didn't recognize that smell.
Curiosity got the better of him and he found himself stalking forward, stopping, once again, though this time it was when a tall, oddly shaped creature came into his line of sight. Ordinarily he didn't come to these parts of the route which would explain how he wasn't used to seeing humans. He crouched low to the ground and crawled forward to get a better look, hoping that his tan and brown fur would camouflage him against the dirt of the trail [well, he wasn't the brightest little guy in the world, now was he?].
A WILD ZIGZAGOON APPEARED!

Albel the Wicked
Albel watched the girl and her Mudkip from his comfortable perch in a tree. What was he doing in a tree on Route 101? Taking a nap. He had left EverGrande City-again- due to a lack of good trainers. Most times, they couldn't even beat the first member, let alone the second, leaving Albel incredibly bored. He lazily observed the girl. Her clothes weren't filthy from days of traveling, her shoes still had soles, her eyes were bright with excitement and she just left Littleroot Town. She was a new trainer.
Her banter with her Mudkip, apparently Marsh, was so sweet, it was disgusting. New trainers sickened Albel, especially if they were female. Albel had nothing against female trainers, there were some incredibly strong woman trainers. It's just that when they started out, they were giggly and happy and humming and skipping. At least boys didn't skip.
Albel took his eyes off the resting girl and looked towards the rustling tall grass. What was this? A Zigzagoon popped out of the grass and started stalking towards the girl. It looked young, maybe that's why it seemed so curious. Albel leaned on to the trunk of the tree. How exciting. He would get to see this girl's first battle.

Marsh the Mudkip; Guardian the Shiny Ralts Casey May Jennings
Oh, where could one be? the girl practically whined. It was almost comical that, as she searched for a Pokemon her self to battle - she wasn't the type for waiting around for something to happen - she had literally stuck her self into a bush, only her rump sticking out of it as she shuffled around inside of the bush. Ans she didn't seem too happy; she had half expected a Pokemon to jump right out and say hello, but obviously she wasn't getting a Pokemon battle so easily as she expected.
Beside her, sitting almost dumbly, was Marsh; he had become quite bored since his trainer was trying to search for a Pokemon. Of course he was new, too, and didn't know what to expect out of a wild Pokemon; although he was sure that they would come out when they were ready. Who they were, he really couldn't guess; his mother had warned him of some of the dangers of wild Pokemon, however he simply ignored them and went on his merry way. Weather that was a good thing or a bad thing, he really couldn't tell yet. Therefore, he just simply shrugged it off and would save the benefit of the doubt later on when he really needed it. Until then, he would simply sit there until a wild Pokemon appeared. Hopefully.
"Well, Marsh," Casey sighed, pulling her self out of the bush and quickly going to fix her hair, "I don't think we're gonna be finding a Pokemon anytime soon. I just really want to head to the next town. What do you say, Marsh?...... Marsh?
Upon looking down to where he would have been sitting, Marsh was no where to be found. Looking frantically around, Casey thought that perhaps he went and lost him self on this route [even though it wasn't very big, who knows]. She was about to have a heart attack, when she finally noticed him out of the corner of her eye; he was standing nearby, looking oddly at something that was moving... Wait, was that a Zigzagoon?! Casey sighed, mostly for Marsh being okay, and that they had found a Pokemon so easily, before hollering at him and jogging over to the Pokemon.
<"What're you doing?">" Marsh asked the Zigzagoon as if it were stupid. "You'll get all dirty, you know... OH! Are we playing a game? I wanna play, too!"
Instantly the Mudkip dived towards the earth and began rolling in the dirt, coating him self with a fine, thin layer of it. It also created a flurry of dirt that was sent up in a drift. At first, when Marsh dove to the ground, Casey squealed in surprise, than in laughter as he begun rolling around like a dog. He was silly, wasn't he? She was glad she chose him!

Albel the Wicked
Albel raised an eyebrow. What were those two Pokemon doing? Were they playing? Seriously? They were playing instead of battling like it was customary for Pokemon to do. Little frolicking worms.
Albel had half a mind to jump down from this tree and terrify that girl and her Pokemon so badly, they'll jump at the sight of rainbows and fluffy Cleffas. Fortunately, Albel wasn't that much of a heartless jerk to utterly destroy a little girl's hopes, dreams and innocence. But maybe....
Albel jumped off of his branch, quietly landing on his feet. He stretched a little, yawned, took out an apple and approached the girl. He stood behind her for a bit, marveling at how tall she was. Usually new trainers were four foot nothing. He sighed and coughed loudly.
"Is that your Mudkip rolling around in the mud?" He said softly. Though his appearance was incredibly intimidating, he never spoke above a loud whisper. It gave his voice a smooth quality to it, yet it sounded threatening all the same. He put his hand on his pokeballs, itching for a fight.

The zigzagoon, at first, had started stalking to young trainer and her strange little blue friend out of curiosity but somewhere between shuffling his body against the dusty path and trying to keep himself hidden he had developed a little game out of it. He was having a blast, seeing just how close he could get to her and her pokemon without being noticed, he had gotten rather close when the Mudkip had waddled over to him, staring down at him.
<what're you doing?>
Well, now he felt a little silly at having been caught in the midst of his made-up game. He didn't know whether to panic at being seen and flee...or to stay and see what would happen. He was a fairly young pokemon and his thoughts were mainly governed by that insatiable curiosity the seemed prevalent in the younger pokemon...so he decided to stay and see where the situation would lead him. Maybe the strange two-legged creature had food that she'd be willing to share with him?
<It's fun, isn't it?> He joined the Mudkip and rolled around, his striped bushy tail flicking from side to side excitedly.
He jumped with a start when an older man seemingly appeared out of nowhere. <...is he a friend of yours? He's scary...>
The Zigzagoon was a little wary of the newcomer now, picking himself up off the ground and eyeing the taller man nervously. The girl wasn't very frightening, but the man was downright intimidating, whether he meant to be or not. [/color]

Marsh the Mudkip; Guardian the Shiny Ralts Casey May Jennings
"Okay, now you guys are just being silly!" Casey giggled as the Zigzagoon joined in with the rolling around in the dirt. It was funny, really. And cute. Maybe the Zigzagoon would like to join them. It seemed to already be acquainted with Marsh; maybe they would become good friends or something, and then Marsh could convince the Pokemon to stick with them or something. Yeah, it was cliche, but if it worked, than it worked, right? That would mean that they would get another Pokemon on their team, too. Yay! Then maybe Guardian wouldn't be so afraid anymore....
"Is that your Mudkip rolling around in the mud?"
Casey was so into thought that she really didn't hear anyone walk up to her. Startled, she jumped and turned friskily towards where the voice had come from; a strange guy dressed in weird clothing stood before her with a not so impressed expression. Out of the corner of her eye, Casey could see the Zigzagoon jump up when the boy spoke, also startled by his appearance. However, Marsh was quite the opposite; the Mudkip stood up as did the Zigzagoon, but wasn't as startled, and seemed more confused as to why the boy would wear such clothing that he had on rather than how intimidating that he looked. However Casey just put on a small smile - she held back the question about his clothing - as she spoke.
"Why yes, yes he is," she simply confirmed with a nod and her smile. She noticed him reaching for a Pokeball, and hoped that he wasn't looking for a battle form her; although her new Pokemon may be strong, she knew that this guy looked a little tougher, if he had many Pokemon. "His name is Marsh; you know, like the swamps or something where they come from?" There was a moment where Casey thought that she was trying to look like she was smart, and almost wanted to take that last line back. "My name's Casey," she quickly introduced, offering a hand in greeting.
<"Herm, I thought we were, but I guess not,"> Marsh informed the Zigzagoon. <"Oh well, a new friend, I guess."> Happily the Mudkip wagged his tail at that thought.

Albel the Wicked
Albel fought back the urge to destroy this poor girl's innocence. She grated on his nerves. She was just so..... perky. Albel took his hand off of his pokeballs. By doing a quick feel scan, Albel realized he must have left Poppet in the computer. Going to Route One wasn't really the plan, so he took his normal traveling party instead. He may be mean, but he would never battle this girl with his fully evolved pokemon. Besides, if he squinted and looked past the way she was looking at his clothes funny, then she was almost cute. Though looking at his clothes funny was a crime punishable by utter annihilation. Albel wasn't even wearing anything strange! Just his regular purple muscle shirt and sarong.
When she explained to him who Marsh was and the origins of his name, Albel tuned out and stared at the Zigzagzoon. Maybe he should catch it, it was kinda cute-umm, deadly looking. Yeah, that Zigzagoon was very deadly looking. Even if it did look like it wanted to run away at the sight of Albel.
"My name's Casey," the girl said, holding out her hand and forcing Albel to focus back on her. He stared at her hand with slight distain and fascination. Usually, new trainers were scared pant-less of him, but she had the gall to hold out her hand for a handshake. He laughed, sounding a bit sinister, but took her hand anyway for a firm handshake.
"I'm Albel," he said, smirking a little. "I'd introduce you to all of my Pokemon, but I don't want that Zigzagoon to run away in fright before you caught it." Albel noted with satisfaction that Casey's Mudkip didn't look scared at all. That will be a strong Pokemon one day.
"You are going to get it aren't you?" He raised an eyebrow. She couldn't let such a cute--deadly Pokemon get away. It was a waste.

Marsh the Mudkip; Guardian the Shiny Ralts Casey May Jennings
"I'm Albel. I'd introduce you to all of my Pokemon, but I don't want that Zigzagoon to run away in fright before you caught it."
It felt strange shaking the guy's hand, Casey wouldn't lie; she felt like he really didn't like her much, something like bad vibes, you know? Not like he was that scary looking; his clothing looked like something her cousin would like to wear. Not that she didn't like it; it was just that was wasn't accustomed to seeing that type of clothing every day. [Even ins Rustboro, and Rustboro was a pretty busy city, in the sense. Not as much as Mauville, but still.] Probably, if she thought about it a while, she might actually think it kind of cool. But not much at the moment; his chuckling freaked her out a little bit and swayed her away form the thought. Was he evil? Oh great. She'd be attacked by some evil-doer while she had weak Pokemon and he had strong ones. But he didn't seem that bad; he hadn't attacked her yet, so that was a good thing.
When the other trainer spoke up about first his Pokemon, she thought about challenging him to a Pokemon battle, but due to the fact of what she was thinking of earlier, plus him saying that he didn't want to scare away the Zigzagoon with them, they must have been stronger and more evolved than both hers and the Zigzagoon. Combine. Oh joy. Well, there wouldn't be a battle then. Just a conversation of some sort. When the boy also spoke up of the Zigzagoon, she realized that she nearly forgot that the Zigzagoon was still technically a wild Pokemon, and not hers. Eep! The new guy made her forget all about that. Marsh had stayed quiet about it, too; she thought that he was ready for a battle of some sort or what ever.
"Well, I was planning on it," she giggled nervously, as if to hide that she had forgotten about the little critter. Turning abruptly, and slightly startling Marsh into standing up and backing off a little, the girl squatted down to the Zigzagoon's level. [Some what.] "What'do ya say, Zigzagoon? Do you want to join me and Marsh here? We can battle, if you want."

The Zigzagoon was starting to get a little more weary of the strange man that stood talking to the human girl; although he didn't understand much of human speech, he did understand the words "Pokemon" and "scare." Did he want to scare him away? Did he have scary Pokemon? This man wasn't stating to sound good at all; and he wasn't getting very many good vibes from him, either. He simply thought about slinking away, however that wouldn't be nice to his new friends; he was having fun with the Mudkip, too. They seemed nice. The Zigzagoon was just about to go with his "run away" tactic and slip away before the duo noticed, however he heard his name pop up in the conversation; he wasn't stupid, he understood some things that people said. His mother didn't raise him to be a dummy, you know! Or at least he hoped....
He was slightly startled when the girl whirled and lowered down to his level and spoke to him. Again, he didn't understand much of what she said, but got the words join, battle, and Marsh. Marsh was the boy? No, the name wouldn't fit him. The Mudkip maybe? Yeah, that'd make sense. Join? As in travel with them? Well, his mother wouldn't be too pleased with him leaving, however he would have liked to travel around the region; he heard from a few older Pokemon that there was a lot of world out there waiting to be discovered. So it would have been nice to go out and see the world. Battle? Well, if the strange guy wasn't there, he would have said yes; he liked rough housing with his friends and family because it made him stronger; however, he was worried that the man might do something to him with his Pokemon, so therefore, the Zigzagoon decided to call it off instead.
"Zigzagoon Zag Zig Zigzagoon!" 'Why sure! I'd like to join you, as long as your nice!'> the Pokemon responded as he went and propped his two front paws on one of the girl's knees, his tail wagging happily.

Marsh the Mudkip; Guardian the Shiny Ralts Casey May Jennings
It didn't seem to take long for the Zigzagoon to make his descion; happily after a moment of thought and some looks at Albel, he hopped his front paws onto Casey's left knee and wagged his tail happily as he said something to her. Although she didn't understand what he had said, but it didn't seem to want a battle; her father said that a Pokemon agreeing to a battle would act more aggressive, like the Pokemon in Petalburg Woods when she brought Delcatty along as her baby sitter. Therefore, he must have wanted to come with her! The girl squealed - much to Albel's annoyance, it must have been - before she swung around her backpack in front of her - she wouldn't have been surprised if she accidently hit the Zigzagoon - and opened a portion of her backpack. She was quick to pull out a Poke'Ball of hers and zip the pack back up. She swung the backpack back on her back before showing the Zigzagoon the Pokeball.
"You see this, Zigzagoon?" she questioned as she enlarged the Pokeball to full size. "This is called a Pokeball. I don't know what it's like inside, but this is where you'll stay if I can't keep you out. All you need to do is stay in this when I press the middle button, and then you can travel with me and Marsh! Got it?"
<"I promise it'll be fun!"> Marsh informed, having already faced the Zigzagoon with a happy smile as he wagged his tail; his vocals when he spoke almost sounded taunting to the other Pokemon.
Casey barely waited a moment for the Zigzagoon before pressing the middle button. There's was a flash of red light, although she highly doubted if the Zigzagoon would stay in the Pokeball or not; didn't wild Pokemon like being free?

As the girl swung around her heavy pouch-looking thing, the Zigzagoon quickly jumped backwards and sat down, slightly curious as to what she was doing. She seemed to be searching for something inside the pouch; it looked as if it had a lot of stuff in it! But by the smell of it, it wasn't anything that could be found where he lived; something even smelled like some strange substance that his friends said buildings smelled like. When the girl seemed to find what she was looking for - a circuital object that almost resembled a berry - she quickly seemed to be finished with what she was looking for, and quickly put the pouch back on her back. [Weren't those usually on your fronts, anyway? Humans were so weird.] Again she started talking to him, and he didn't understand what she was saying too much, but got the words "stay," "out," "Marsh," and of course his name.
The TinyRacoon Pokemon gave a yip and wagged his tail in agreement - although he really didn't know what it was that he was agreeing to - and instantly there was a red light that sourounded him. The Pokeball wiggled in the girl's hand a few times as the button in the middle began flashing. Within a few seconds, the ball made a poof! and the wiggling and flashing stopped. Congratulations! You caught a Zigzagoon!

Marsh the Mudkip; Guardian the Shiny Ralts; Derrick the Zigzagoon; Casey May Jennings
Instantly the teen gave a happy screech as she shot up to her feet, jumping up and down excitedly as she cupped the Pokeball in her hands. Obviously, she was happy for catching the Zigzagoon, and for a moment seemed to forget about the guy that she was talking to; her first Pokemon that she actually caught! Well, it didn't really count since she didn't really battle him, but there were plenty of Pokemon for that. She actually caught her first Pokemon! With a Pokeball! Again she squealed, but stopped jumping up and down - that would make her look weird to the other trainer[as if she hadn't already] - but simply gestured the the Pokeball out to Marsh with a huge smile on her face; any bigger and it would have fallen right off, as her grandmother used to say about it. [And it just might have been true.]
"Look Marsh!" she said in an excitably high voice as she tipped on her heels. "We caught the Zigzagoon! I'mma name him Derrick!" She honestly seemed more excited than she should have been, but having to start your journey three years after everyone else...... Catching your first Pokemon would kinda make you a little happy.
"Mudkip!" Marsh seemed to congratulate as he wagged his back fin happily. Remembering the other trainer, Casey quickly eeped before turning to him on her heels.
"Did cha' see that?! I caught my first Pokemon!" she gloated, showing him the Pokeball before hanging it on her belt with Marsh's Pokeball and another. The perfect place! Looking back towards the other trainer, she asked, as if forgetting she had just caught her first Pokemon, "So why are you here? I mean, you don't seem like the kind of person who just got their starter."

Albel the Wicked
Albel wasn't very sure of what just happened, since he was picking his teeth the entire time, but apparently, judging from Casey's extremely happy squeal and her enthusiastic babbling, she caught the Zigzagoon. Good, he thought. Pokemon like that need a trainer to help them reach full potential. She was bragging to her Mudkip when she suddenly seemed to remember that Albel Nox was a person that did not exist in her nightmares. She quickly turned around, with a huge smile on her face. "Did cha' see that?! I caught my first Pokemon!" Abel nodded, by way of congratulations, since he was sure that Zigzagoon let himself be caught. Albel's ears were well tuned to the sounds of a Pokemon Battle.
He smirked a little at her question, he was wondering when she'd notice that he wasn't a beginner trainer. Though she looked a little old to be just getting her starter, being a beginner at age 24 was downright sad. "I was bored, and I decided that traveling was much more interesting then anything else." he said tonelessly, before deciding to tease her a bit. "I wanted to see some intense battles, but I suppose following you around will do." He laughed a little at that. Even though he didn't like her that much, not that he disliked her either, she was the most interesting person he's seen all day. He had a niggling feeling that she would become a strong trainer, maybe even strong enough to give him a challenge. Why not follow her around? She could use a human companion, even if it was him.
