It took forever just for her to get her father to let her come from Oldale alone; there were enough ledges for her to jump off from and stay out of the tall grass and not get attacked by any Pokemon. Therefore, after a long time of convincing, she was finally allowed to make the rest of the journey alone. It took a little while, however she finally made it; she didn't know that Littleroot was so small; she thought it was much larger than just a few people living in it. Ah, well, she must have just gotten caught up in all of the stories she'd heard; they were quite interesting to both hear and believe to the young teenager. Which was the interesting part; starting a journey at age thirteen.
She would have started at age ten, if her brother had not gone missing; no one had known what happened to him, he just stop sending them letters and stopped calling them. Which was why Casey wanted to start her journey right away; to go and find her brother. But her parents were worried that she would go missing, too. So she simply stayed at home until her parents allowed her to go. Which was now, of course, and she hated saying yes to the idea in the first place. She started later than all of her friends, and most of them already had all eight badges and were heading to face the Elite Four. It just wasn't fair, really. But at least now she could get over the face; she was finally starting her Pokemon journey!
Skipping through the better part of town, with people giving her looks along the way, the girl finally made it to the laboratory, where she would receive her first Pokemon. It took all of her will not to jump up and down and screech as she went in there. Trying to breath for a moment to calm her self down, Casey finally was able to calm down a bit in order to step forward and knock on the door. Very loudly.
"Hello?" she called out loudly, knocking again in hopes of getting someone's attention. "Anyone there?"

"Another day another dollar."
Professor Birch had told him that before leaving on another one of his "expeditions", however the aid refused to believe that. The young man sighed, being yet again stuck with all of the work while the other aids went out to help. It was a douche, it was, but if he wanted to keep a steady income to keep paying for his rent at the apartments over in Rustboro that he lived in, he need not complain of working over-time with lack of help. Piling some more papers onto the desk in the corner, he was just about to let the starters out to feed them lunch when he heard a knock at the front door that partly startled him into stumbling into the nearby desk; kids these days.
"Hello? Anyone there?"
The aid gave a sigh as he straighted his lab coat, briskly walking to the front door as he called out, "Just a minute!" After getting his jacket all straightened out, he gave a slightly frustrated sigh before putting on a fake smile; Birch always said that frowns never got people interested in Pokemon. The aid waited a moment to make sure the other person wasn't holding onto the handle before opening the door. "Why hello there," the man tried to say happily to the girl standing at the door. She seemed she was holding back some anxiety or something or other, the aid guessed, though tried to ignore it as he spoke. "You're here for your starter I take it?" he questioned before turning and walking back further into the lab. "Well, come on in, if you will Just please close the door behind you; we don't want any Pokemon getting out."
The aid quickly searched under Birch's desk for a bag; in which he found a suit case, but it was all the same. With a sigh he pulled it out and set it on top, taking a look at the girl to make sure she had shut the door before looking down at the Pokeballs again; he had forgot where Birch had told him where the Pokeballs were. He hoped these were the right ones.

Casey teetered on her heels for a moment as she waited, holding her hands tightly behind her back; she almost just wanted to burst right in there, however her parents had taught her more manners than doing so, so of course she waited. She had heard that Birch was notorious for randomly visiting Pokemon in their wild habitats and studying them for days on end; Case wondered if he was here today or not. She would have been mad if he wasn't; she had been waiting for three whole years to start her Pokemon journey, and she didn't really feel like waiting any longer. That just simply made her more mad, at the thought, really it did, when the door in front of her suddenly opened, and a man was standing there.
"Why hello there. You're here for your starter I take it? Well, come on in, if you will Just please close the door behind you; we don't want any Pokemon getting out."
An aid? Well that made sense. A busy professor couldn't run a lab all by him self, just like a Gym Leader couldn't run a gym all by them selves; they had the help of others, just like her father helped out at the Petalburg Gym. Upon the man greeting her in, Casey quickly stepped forward silently, making sure to close the door behind her as she followed.
Wow, she could only think as she looked over the place. So this is what a lab looks like?
It was actually quite nicer than her brother had explained to her back when he was a trainer. She smiled at the though, and almost wanted to start bursting out questions, however didn't want to annoy the aid on duty; he already looked a bit upset as is. She looked around for a moment longer as the aid searched for something; the next moment she looked, he was standing over an open brief case that sat on a desk. Were there Pokemon in those? Perhaps the starters. She held back the urge of tackling him in order to see what was in them. Instead she calmly stated in order to get his attention;
"U-um, excuse me? I'd like a Mudkip, please? I heard they were really powerful."

Okay, so the aid was really having a hard time deciding if these were the starters or not. Usually they had symbols on them of what type they were, making it easier for the training aids so they wouldn't get confused; which wasn't helping much, seeing as how this aid had been working here for a few years, and even he didn't know which was which. Gah, if only he had listened! He almost wanted to do a face palm, however that would have make him look much more stupid than he already was. And he really didn't want that hid permanate record. He was almost debating to ask the girl to come back later, to look around at town or something as he got the starters ready for her because they needed to be healed or something - like that was believable - when she spoke up, almost wanting to make him groan.
"U-um, excuse me? I'd like a Mudkip, please? I heard they were really powerful."
"Mudkip? Why yes, of course they are," he confirmed, however feeling a bit nervous. He gave a slight gulp as he picked up one of the Poke'balls that sat in the case. "A Mudkip, right?" he asked, as if stalling time. Gulping, he pressed the button and closed his eyes, only to open them again to..... a Mudkip. OH THANK ARCEUS HE HADN'T LOST THE STARTERS. The aid held back a sigh of relief as hustling to the back, grabbing a back pack for the girl as well. "Here's your starter pack as well, miss." he said, gesturing the back and the Pokeball to the girl happily.
Well, at least he hadn't screwed up a whole hell of a lot worse.

"Aw, how cute!" was the first thing the girl said when the Pokemon was released from it's confines.
It was so adorable-looking; while she did like Treecko, and Torchic had a nice evolution, she did like Mudkip the best; mostly because it's evolved forms could take on the gym leaders easier, such as Roxanne and Wattson. Which was why she was choosing Mudkip as he starter; that, and it was just so cute! Primarily distracted by the Mudkip as she tried to pet it - it merely sat there there with a slightly confused look on it's face as she spoke to it with cooes and such - that she was startled when the aid had spoke to her, and when she looked up, he was holding a bag and the Mudkip's Pokeball.
"Thank you," she said as she took the items, and this time she couldn't take it; happily the girl jumped up and down with a slightly gleeful screech. "C'mon, Mudkip! Let's go start our journey!" she had said with a simple thank you to the aid. The Mudkip seemed to agree as it gave a simple call and both were running out the door; Casey had forgot it was closed and almost ran into it on her way out. What a smart little trainer, huh?
